Less than 4 weeks to go …
Cheltenham Festival prices – from Betfred
A brilliant Road To Cheltenham this week, featuring expert studio opinion from Joel Ross and Martin Dixon. There’s also an unforgettable location cameo from Matt Hulmes at a windswept beach, in a gale. I kid you not.
All were in scintillating form, and the lads had plenty to chew over, as action over the weekend from Newbury and Warwick looked particularly pertinent to Prestbury Park prospects. Try saying that with your teeth out.
It’s now less than 4 weeks until the tapes rise for the opening Supreme Novices’ on the Tuesday, and with our Non-runner no bet embracing all the Festival’s races it really is all systems go for the March showpiece.
Under the microscope this week – the superb Bravemansgame, in to 9/4 for the Brown Advisory. Such a lot to like, and at least all Paul’s aren’t slightly underwhelming at present.
Venetia Williams’ excellent form – when the mud’s flying she’s in her element, and jock Charlie Deutsch is making hay on the Aramstone warriors. Any better ‘chase riders out there? I’ll wait.
A 12/1 shot was flagged up for the Ryanair, but respect aplenty for the reigning champ Allaho. Last term’s 12-length scorer will take some stopping in his bid to repeat, if in the same nick. Her looked pretty good at Thurles the other day.
Talking of the great Willie Mullins and his charges, one of his is discussed as a possible longshot for the Arkle, while the current favourite Edwardstone is rightly praised to the skies for an authoritative win in the Kingmaker. He’s got absolutely everything required for the race, according to Racing TV’s Martin Dixon.
The Tizzard battalions are flying right now, and their raiders warrant the closest scrutiny. Finally, the lads issued another raft of great value charity bets, including that Matt Hulmes / Ross Poldark moment, sea at his back, in a Welsh force ten. You really, really don’t want to miss it.
If you want to skip right to it, it’s 20 minutes and 32 seconds in. Love Island with padded, hooded jackets.
