Brown stuns Selby in Milton Keynes

It was a shock early exit for world number one Mark Selby on Tuesday night as he suffered a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Jordan Brown in round one at the European Masters.

Brown made a flying start to the contest at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes as the 34-year-old produced a break of 118 in the opening frame.

Selby found himself having to play catch-up throughout much of the contest but in two scrappy final frames it was Brown who managed to edge out the victory.

There was to be no shock exit for Judd Trump but he was made to work hard for a 5-4 win over Jak Jones.

It was Jones who produced breaks of 115, 94 and 128 in successive frames to take a 4-2 lead and have victory in sight.

However, Trump kept his composure and the former world number one landed breaks of 73, 83, and 98 in the final three frames to secure a fine comeback win.
