US Horse Racing Odds: Saturday 22nd January

There is plenty of racing action to get your teeth into across the United States on Saturday, with a total of nine meetings taking place.

Gulfstream will be our first port of call, with nine races scheduled at the Florida track from 17:00-22:14, and that will kickstart a flurry of meetings, with Laurel Park’s nine-race offering the next to get underway at 17:10, with the finale in Maryland to come at 21:38.

Race Two from Laurel Park, the 17:39 Starter Allowance, will be the first of Saturday’s races to benefit from Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ promotion, with Calypso Ghost (4/1), a winner at the venue last time out, appearing a potential option in what looks a tough race to call over 5½f.

We will return to Florida for a 10-race card from Tampa Bay Downs between 17:15-21:52, with the 18:13 Starter Optional Claiming there set to see Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ offer come into play, while New York race fans can take in nine races from Aqueduct, beginning at 17:20 and concluding at 21:20.

Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ promotion will be available for both the 17:50 Claiming and the Stakes at 20:20 from Aqueduct, with the in-form Why Why Paul Why (9/2) set to run in the latter – he has won on his last four starts for trainer Penny Pearce.

There is a nine-race card to enjoy from Delta Downs between 18:55-22:40, while we move from Louisiana to California for the first of two meetings from the Golden State, with Santa Anita set to showcase nine races from 20:30-00:45.

The opener from Santa Anita is a Maiden Special Weight and is another race that will benefit from Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ offering, which could favour fans of Magic Man (SP), who has shown good promise on his first two starts, most recently placing at this very venue.

The California feeling will continue at Golden Gate Fields where a nine-race card will take place between 20:45-01:02, while the penultimate meeting of the day takes us well into the early hours of Sunday morning, with the action at Charles Town going from 00:00-04:02.

Sam Houston Race Park will then round off the day with nine races scheduled from 00:55-04:41.
