Thursday marks the opening day of the 2022 Grand National Festival, with Aintree’s card including four Grade 1 races.
There’s also afternoon jumps action from Ffos Las, Limerick, and Taunton, while the day’s second Irish card is a flat affair at Gowran Park, and there is also all-weather evening fare from Chelmsford.
Aintree’s offering runs from 13:45 to 17:15 and features seven races, with the Extra Place Race promotion available on the 13:45, 15:30, 16:40 and 17:15 but the Super Extra Race Place gains extra attention on the Randox Foxhunters’ Open Hunters’ Chase at 16:05.
Paul Nicholls’ Cat Tiger struggled in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham but was third in this contest last year and is 15/2 to score.

Around 45 minutes before that they get the day going at Ffos Las, with the same seven contests taking place between 13:00 and 16:25.
The Extra Race Place is available on the closer where Caswell Bay drops in class and is 7/2 to triumph after his second place at Chepstow last time out.
Next to the day’s first trip to Ireland and the jumps meeting at Limerick. There are eight races in Munster, the first of which goes off at 13:20 and closer comes at 17:20.
The Extra Race Place promotion is available on the 15:03, 15:38, 16:13 and 16:45 and in the latter of those, Danny Mullins’ mount Four Horsemen is 11/2 to get off the mark over hurdles after so far failing to score in 11 starts when facing the obstacles.
The last afternoon card to look out for is Taunton’s eight-race offering, running from 13:27 to 17:25, with the 16:20 featuring the Extra Place Race promotion.
After last week’s fine win at Wincanton, David Pipe sends Red Happy back out and he is 2/1 to defy his 7lb penalty.
Into the evening and back to Ireland with them set to go off eight times at Gowran Park between 15:55 and 19:30.
There are four chances for the Extra Place Race, but the 17:30 offers something more in the form of the Super Extra Place and Nectaris is 15/2 to return with a win having triumphed last time out in October at Leopardstown.
Finally to the day’s sole all-weather meeting from Chelmsford, where they run seven races from 16:00 to 19:15.
The 16:35 and 19:15 entertain the Extra Place Race but Betfred offer something more, with their Free Bet if 2nd taking its place on the 18:15 and 18:45.
After missing out over 1m4f last time out at Wolverhampton, the extra furlong or so may benefit 11/4 Foreshadow, while two-time course winner Got No Dollars could be the one to beat in the latter contest at 5/2.
