Terriers aim to solidify play-off spot

Huddersfield Town's John Smith's Stadium

Huddersfield Town get the chance to move up to fifth in the Championship table if they can beat Stoke City in Friday’s clash at the John Smith’s Stadium (Huddersfield 6/4, Draw 9/4, Stoke 2/1 – match result).

The Terriers (16/1 – to win promotion) have enjoyed a sublime nine-match unbeaten run under head coach Carlos Corberan, including a 2-1 success over Premier League Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup.

At home, Corberan’s side have only lost one of their previous nine in the Championship, and they could be playing Stoke at the perfect time.

The Potters (16/1 – to gain promotion) have lost their previous two matches in the second tier, but on the road, they have won three of their last five in the Championship.

Stoke lost 1-0 in midweek to Coventry City, and Town boss Corberan is expecting a big response from Michael O’Neill’s side.

He told the club’s official website: “Stoke City have players back from injury and from the transfer market, so even if they keep the same shape, they could have different players to last time we played them.

“I’m very focused on Stoke – I know that we have Derby and the FA Cup soon after, but my full concentration is on Stoke.

“Sometimes, when you play a strong team that hasn’t got the result they wanted, it can make them more dangerous.”

Huddersfield’s Levi Colwill will miss out due to a knee injury, while O’Neill has no new injury concerns, but Ben Wilmot, Sam Surridge and Steven Fletcher have returned to training.
