Rodgers plays down Leicester transfer hopes

Leicester City are the only Premier League team who have failed to add to their squad this summer and Brendan Rodgers admits there may not be any additions before the end of August.

After a frustrating end to last season, when they eventually finishing outside of the European places, many thought Rodgers would be given funds to strength his squad for the 2022-23 campaign.

But so far, Leicester – 7/1 to finish in the Top Six – have seen Kasper Schmeichel leave and no new faces arrive at the King Power Stadium, with the current window due to close on September 1.

Despite continuing talk that the likes of Wesley Fofana and James Madison might be on the move, Rodgers has been very coy on any potential incomings.

When asked about possible signings, the Leicester boss revealed: “The club need to move some players on and then we’ll see what that releases. We have no guarantees at this stage.”

Rodgers has been keen to state though that he does not want to lose defender Fofana, as the Foxes prepare for Saturday’s clash at the Emirates against Arsenal (Match Betting – Arsenal 1/2, Draw 18/5, Leicester 11/2).

Leicester have already rejected two bids this summer for the 21-year-old centre-back and their manager insists “we are lot looking to sell”.

One man who is leaving the King Power though is Hamza Choudhury, with the midfielder agreeing to join Watford – 6/4 to be promoted back to the Premier League – on-loan for the remainder of the season.
