Well, we were considering not showing our faces this week…
None-out-of-three was the treble score last week. Draws between Brighton/Norwich and Leeds/Southampton combined with Brentford’s shock result at Stamford Bridge meant our 4/1 trifecta didn’t even come close to landing.
We’re back this week with another effort, which will hopefully result in a win!
Let’s see who we fancy.
Everton vs Manchester United
We start at Goodison Park for the 12.30pm kick-off between Everton and Man Utd.
A huge game for both sides – Everton are bidding to survive in the Premier League, while United’s top four chances have been boosted by Arsenal’s defeat at Crystal Palace last Monday.
The defeat for Frank Lampard and his players at Turf Moor on Wednesday night will have been a tough one to take, especially after taking the lead.
But Lampard will know that every point is crucial at this stage, and he’ll be hoping Everton’s home form can see them survive in the Premier League.
United were pretty poor against Leicester last weekend, but after Arsenal lost at Selhurst Park, they’ve been given a lifeline to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
They need to respond here though – and we think they will.
United to win at 3/4.
Southampton vs Chelsea
Our next pick comes from St. Mary’s as Southampton host Chelsea.
Chelsea are coming into this one off the back of two disappointing defeats on their own turf – the 4-1 defeat to Brentford, and then the 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in midweek.
Meanwhile, the Saints aren’t in great form themselves – they’ve conceded nine goals in their last four games in the top flight and that indicates where the problems lie.
But they’ve scored in each of their last 12 Premier League home games since drawing a blank against Wolverhampton Wanderers in September, and Chelsea’s defensive set-up isn’t what it was in the early parts of the season.
Chelsea’s record against Southampton, however, makes us think there’ll be a response here though. They’ve lost just one of their last 14 with the Saints in all competitions.
And at 10/11 that’s a cracking price for Chelsea considering they’re away from home.
Watford vs Leeds United
Our final pick comes from Vicarage Road as Watford take on Leeds.
Another huge game in terms of the relegation battle. Watford are currently 19th in the table, three points behind 17th-placed Everton, while Leeds occupy 16th spot, six points ahead of 18th-placed Burnley.
A win here would do Watford wonders – it would pull Leeds back into the mix, and, depending on the result of the early kick-off between Everton and Man Utd, could see them move level on points with the Toffees.
However, Watford have lost their last eight home league matches, though, and their last success in front of their own supporters was back in November.
Leeds, on the other hand, have given themselves some breathing room, picking up seven points from their last three Premier League matches, beating Norwich and Wolverhampton Wanderers before drawing 1-1 with Southampton last weekend.
They do have the fourth-worst away record in the Premier League this season, picking up just 13 points from 15 matches, but they are travelling to a Watford team with the worst home record in the division.
So, we think they’ll take the three points at 6/4.
Man Utd to beat Everton
Chelsea to beat Southampton
Leeds to beat Watford
