Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic says his side should use Saturday’s shock defeat to Brentford as “fuel” as they prepare to host Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League (Chelsea 5/4, Draw 9/4, Real Madrid 5/2 – match result).
After winning six matches on the spin, Chelsea were brought back down to earth last weekend as they lost 4-1 to the Bees.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are now five points ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham, although they do have a game in hand over their London rivals.
Real Madrid returned to winning ways following their 4-0 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico, but Pulisic says there is no need for anyone in the squad to panic.
He told reporters: “The game at the weekend was a tough one, but maybe the kick we needed to get us ready for the games coming up.
“The guys are definitely going to turn it around. We are still going to be confident, as we should.
“We’ve all been through moments like that before; that’s why we are experienced as a team. While it was a crazy result, it’s not time to panic and take it with us. We’ll use it as fuel to turn it around.”

Jorginho, Reece James and Mateo Kovacic could all return to Tuchel’s starting XI after starting the game against Brentford on the bench.
Eden Hazard has not travelled to his former stomping ground due to a leg injury, while Luka Jovic and Isco are also absent.
Wednesday’s other quarter-final sees Villarreal host German giants Bayern Munich (Villarreal 5/1, Draw, Bayern 8/15 – match result).
The winner of the tie will face Benfica or Liverpool, and while Bayern are favourites, the Yellow Submarine shocked Juventus in the last-16.
Bayern full-back Alphonso Davies could feature for the first time since December, but Corentin Tolisso and Bouna Sarr will play no part in the game.
Villarreal coach Unai Amery cannot rely on Alberto Moreno, while forward Boulaye Dia and winger Samuel Chukwueze are both doubts.
