Celtics move to one win away from final

Boston Celtics (11/8 NBA Championship outright) are edging closer towards the NBA Championship final after beating Miami Heat (16/1) 93-80 to go 3-2 up in the best-of-seven series.

The Massachusetts-based side are looking for an 18th title overall which would break the record, though they have won it only once since 1986.

However, 25 points scored by Jaylen Brown helped them recover from a below-par first-half display to go and win in Miami.

The Celtics were down 42-37 at the break but fought back valiantly to go back ahead in the Eastern Conference final.

Jayson Tatum added 22 points and 12 rebounds as the Celtics look to reach their first NBA final since 2010 when they were defeated by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Despite trailing the series heading back to Boston over the weekend, Heat forward Jimmy Butler is confident they have it in them to mount a recovery.

“Besides the fact that anything is possible, we know what we are capable of,” he said.

“We know we can play some really good basketball, and we know that we are going to play some really good basketball.

“It’s going to have to start in this next game up in Boston. But I just think that we know that we can win.”

On Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors face the Dallas Mavericks (Money Line – Warriors 1/3, Mavericks 9/4) looking to book their place in the finals with two games to spare.

The Warriors went 3-0 with a succession of commanding performances, though, 30 points from Luka Doncic gave the Mavs a glimmer of hope going forward with a 119-109 win last time out.

No team has ever recovered from 3-0 down in a best-of-seven play-off series in the 75-year history of the NBA.
